Business Traineeships with Skillscorp
Skillscorp is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which provides training for people undertaking business traineeships.
Candidates undertaking a business traineeships will gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst employed in their roles as well as achieving practical experience and skills.
What is a Traineeship?
A traineeship is a real opportunity for participants to work full-time or part-time and receive accredited training to achieve a nationally accredited qualification in their chosen industry.
Business traineeships will be in an environment to suit your job role. If you are for example undertaking an office administration traineeship, you will be employed in an office or administration area. If you undertaking a frontline management traineeship, you will be in a position where you are managing or supervising in a business.
Business traineeships can have a duration of between one and three years.
The traineeship process is one where you will be asked to sign a training contract which will be registered with the State training authority.
In Queensland, this is the Department of Employment and Training. There are certain responsibilities as a business trainee that you need to adhere to such as maintaining reasonable progress through your training.
Skillscorp as your training provider will develop a training plan which outlines your units of study and suggested timelines for completion. The training contract and training plan are signed by the trainee, Skillscorp, your employer and parent guardian if you are under 18 years of age.
Skillscorp also conducts training for secondary school students who are participating in school based business traineeships. School-Based traineeships provide year 11 and 12 students the ability to study for their Senior Certificate while working and learning in their chosen industry to gain a nationally accredited qualification.

How do I find business traineeships?
You will need an employer who is seeking to employ a trainee in your industry of choice. You can register with People Priority One who may be able to assist you gain employment as a trainee.
How much does a trainee get paid?
Trainees are usually paid a training wage while they are learning their qualification. To find out more about the training wage, you can contact Fair Work Australia on 13 13 94 or visit their website.
Does the traineeship cost anything?
The traineeship is mostly funded by the government. *There are criteria that needs to be met for this to occur. There is also a tuition fee that is payable which is a contribution made by the trainee towards the cost of their qualification. In some cases a large discount applies. The employer may also be asked to contribute towards the cost of the training. This is when the training is only partially funded by the government. This is dependent on the candidate and the qualification being undertaken. Please contact us for further information.
Should the training be assessed as not funded by the government, the cost of the training will need to be paid by the employer. Incentives may be available to cover training costs. This type of traineeship is called “Fee for Service”. Tuition fees do not apply in this case.
